What are the Shutdown Steps for Coal-fired Steam Boiler?

zozen coal fired steam boiler

The coal-fired steam boiler is usually working under pressure. If an emergency occurs after the ignition and operation, the boiler should be shut down as soon as possible to reduce the risk and accident rate. The specific steps are as follows:

First of all, reduce the evaporation of the coal-fired steam boiler and then stop the coal supply. If it is the mechanical grate boiler, stop the coal feeding first and stop the grate rotation after the coal in the hopper is all sent into the furnace.

Then, when the fire is reduced to a weak state, close the steam supply valve, stop the steam delivery, close the isolation valve to isolate from the steam header, stop the forced and induced draft fans, appropriately close flue gas baffle at the boiler outlet and the ventilation door under the grate to use natural ventilation.

Next, change the automatic water feeding to manual water feeding, and keep the water level of boiler slightly higher than the normal water level.

Finally, the steam pressure can not drop too fast and the boiler can not be cooled too fast as well. Before the steam pressure is dropped to the atmospheric pressure, the boiler operator should keep monitoring the boiler.
